1981 – March/April – invited to tour the West Indies with the England cricket team – given paid leave by my employers.
1983 – January – Promoted to Department Manager at the Kingston-Upon-Thames branch in the stockbroker area of (London) Surrey, England. 12 staff on my Department of which I was the youngest, being in charge of mortgage applications, arrears and repossessions (foreclosures).
1985 – September – Promoted to Business Development Officer (Assistant Manager grade) based at Buckingham Gate, London and Hanover Square, London W1 branches.
The youngest Assistant Manager grade in the bank, 60 staff in my branch with the promotion being over of three levels of the management ladder. My role was to introduce investment monies into the bank by “courting” Accountants and Lawyers in my branch area – Oxford St, Regent St, Harley St and Mayfair.
1986 – July – introduced over 1 million UK pounds into the branch in that month alone.
- September – left what would have been a glittering, “safe” career to become a self employed Financial Adviser, based in Knightsbridge, London.
1988 – January – moved north to my hometown of Chesterfield, formed Spire Financial Services from an office at the rear of my garage.
1995 – married a Floridian lady
1998 – August – Formed Spire Estate Agents from my then town center offices.
2002 – July – Sold Spire Financial Services and Spire Estates
– by then I had 22 staff working for me and Spire Estates, in just 5 years had become the largest Estate Agents in the town.
2002 – November – Emigrated to Sarasota, Florida (Green Card/Permanent Resident status)
2003 – March – Obtained my Realtor license – largest sale achieved $5.3m.
2007 – April – Bought a franchise with WSI (
